Form One pupils were the first to experience the amazing Enigma Code workshop as part of the Whole School Puzzle Day.
First they had a go at cracking a code – and loved puzzling over the meaning of the different letters trying to break the ‘Caesar Code’ – an actual code used by Julius Caesar to communicate secret messages between his armies.
The pièce de résistance was being able to see – and actually touch and use an Enigma Machine – wow!
Our visitor Tom, from Bletchley Park told them that this was the actual machine used in the film ‘The Imitation Game’ and explained how it had been used by the Germans to send secret messages during the Second World War.
The children (and staff) were fascinated and felt very privileged to be able to be part of this amazing experience.
