Last Tuesday, Forms 1 and 2 were treated to this term’s Concert Series performance: ‘Pipes, Pirates, Flutes and Fairytales’. Our very own Prep. School Director of Music, Mrs Ruth Williams gave us a guided tour through her ‘flutes of the world’ which included a bamboo flute from Thailand and even a nose-flute!
She also demonstrated how beautifully lyrical the flute can be, before playing several pieces, ably accompanied by Mr Saxel on the piano.
Both the Lower School children and our invited ‘Pirate’ 7+ guests (who had dressed up for the occasion!) were spellbound by the speed at which notes flew out of the piano and the flute – wow!
A lively musical story finished the eclectic programme and we are very grateful to Mrs Williams and Mr Saxel for transporting us to another world and entertaining us with their talents.
