What a wonderful DreamWorks journey our Form 5 pupils have been travelling this term. The themes, the colour, the music and the characterisation of Shrek were all brought to life with enormous enthusiasm, professionalism and above all a sense of fun! The commitment to the story, based on the animation picture and the book by William Steig, was a marvel to see and all those involved should be very proud of what the children have achieved.

The show was full of wonderful tunes, coupled with fantastic themes allowing us to explore individuality and develop our ability to laugh at oneself in the process!

The cast learnt so much about teamwork, organisation and about looking after each other. The scene changes, the multiple props, the mic changes, and countless different entrances and exits was no mean feat to get right, which the children did largely by themselves with the help of two Form 6 stagehands and two members of staff backstage.

A big thank you to all who gave up so much time for the show, whether parents rehearsing lines, the children running a packed schedule, the technical crew, the set and prop making, the wonderful colourful costumes and of course the singing so wonderfully directed by our Head of Music, Mrs Ruth Williams.

Head of Drama, Mr Waller said  “There were so many standout performances from the leads, too many to list individually. All I can say is we are proud of you all, you played your parts beautifully, until the next time!”
