Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day through the theme of Language and Literature. All pupils were invited to come to school dressed in a costume representing an adjective, with some superbly chosen words, meaning we had pupils who were obstreperous, narcissistic and ethereal, though thankfully not all at once.
There were sixteen activities available to the various year groups, from Spellcasting to Braille for Beginners, and Rapping through to Sign Language lessons, provided by profoundly deaf instructors from Dot Language, which many agreed was the highlight of the day. WBD25 culminated in the finals of the CPS Spelling Bee – a whole-school competition in which every child took place for their house, with the strongest two spellers from each, in every year group, going through to the finals in front of the whole school.
A HUGE congratulations to all pupils who took part in the finals, with Hugh H-R. winning the Junior Section and Reuben S. winning in the Seniors; the winning house was Clubs.
