The theatre was back in fine form again with this fun-filled, glittering retelling of the classic fairy-tale. A wonderful blend of traditional and modern, this pantomime had it all: outrageous costumes, particularly for the two ugly sisters (one of whom is an Old Cranleighan and Eagle Radio DJ, Peter Gordon); very sweet, white, live Shetland ponies; ghosts in the woods; plenty of custard pies, and several water pistols which were, possibly, even more powerful than last year.
Keeping us up-to-date, however, was Michelle Gayle (ex-Grange Hill and EastEnders star), who played the Fairy Godmother. She reminded Cinderella, “You don’t need a man to be happy” and encouraged an audience participation round of Baby Shark.
This was another fabulous production from our local theatre that made us all feel festive and full of Christmas spirit!
