With its performing groups ranging in size from three to sixty and performing music from Tchaikovsky to Coldplay, the Summer Concert was, as ever, a firm highlight of the musical year.
Historically it heralds the start of the much looked-forward to half-term break. This year, as much as ever, the packed audience were sent into their holiday with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step.
It is always so good to see the musical progression which takes place from the youthful exuberance of the Lower School Percussion, Strings and Choir, through to the complexities and self-assured confidence of the major upper school instrumental ensembles, Chapel and Chamber Choirs.
Performing music in groups, large or small, is one of its greatest joys and, as Mr Brookes commented in his thanks at the end, everyone really looked like they were enjoying themselves.
Congratulations are due to all the performers and the teachers who support them in their musical journey.
