On Thursday 7th October, Cranleigh Prep School hosted a girls’ football tournament with approximately 100 girls in attendance. Three teams of U11’s from Cranleigh, were joined by two teams from Wonersh and Shamley Green Primary School, and one team from Cuthbert Mayne Primary School. Three teams of U13’s from Cranleigh, were joined by three teams from our neighbours, Glebelands school.
The teams were split into two groups, within each age category, and played the other two teams. Once the final standings were established, there was a final match to determine placings.
The results were:
U11’s
Cranleigh A – 1st
WSG A – 2nd
Cuthbert Mayne – 3rd
Cranleigh B(1) – 4th
WSG B – 5th
Cranleigh B(2) – 6th
U13’s
Glebelands A – 1st
Cranleigh A – 2nd
Cranleigh B(1) – 3rd
Glebelands B – 4th
Glebelands C – 5th
Cranleigh B(2) – 6th
The weather certainly wasn’t as kind as it promised to be, but the rain mainly stayed away throughout the event and the girls’ enthusiasm kept everyone smiling.
Seeing so many girls enjoy playing football, was such a thrill and this will most definitely be repeated again in the near future. A huge thanks to our visiting teams and we look forward to seeing them again soon.
