Marie Ward

Dr Marie Ward completed her first degree at Kingston University before taking a Masters at the Royal College of Music. She returned to Kingston to teach and write a PhD on the early piano music of Scriabin under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Dunsby.

During the course of the PhD, she studied with Professor Vladimir Tropp of the Gnessin Institute in Moscow. Dr Ward was a recipient of the Stanley Picker scholarship at the RCM, and was supported by the Clothworkers Foundation. She won the Chopin prize at the RCM and 2 concerto prizes at Kingston, performing the Grieg and Rachmaninoff 2nd Concertos.

Dr Ward is currently organist at a local church and takes two choirs, as well as freelance playing, adjudicating and teaching, and is Assistant Head of Prep School music.
