On Wednesday 31st January we celebrated our musicians with a full day of performances for the House Music Competition. Focusing on individual singers and instrumentalists the audience enjoyed hearing from our beginner Form 1 pupils, at the start of their musical journeys, to our more experienced Form 6 musicians with their stylish and accomplished playing.

At CPS we celebrate music making at all levels with a ‘music for all’ approach. All pupils are encouraged to take part in the first round and we had a total of 336 entries over the whole school. A total of 114 pupils took part in the final which ran from 8:45am to 4:00pm, comprising of four sections: Strings and Guitar, Vocal, Piano and Percussion, Woodwind and Brass.

The day had an air of celebration and positivity as younger players were cheered on by older pupils who, in turn, inspired them with their technical proficiency and advanced performances.

Thanks to Dr Ward and Mr Scriven for their wonderful accompanying throughout the day as well as our adjudicators from the wider Cranleigh Music Team.
