After two academic years of exposure in Forms 5 and 6, pupils will be able to converse in Spanish at a basic level and are able to make a more informed decision of their next language choice at their senior schools.
For most Cranleigh Prep pupils, Form 5 (Year 7) will be their first ever exposure to Spanish, so they learn how to greet people followed by basic personal information including name, where they live, their age and birthday. Pupils will build on this knowledge to add information about their families and pets, which will include vocabulary for colours and personalities.
Pupils in Form 6 will continue to review their basic knowledge from their first year and to this they will add learning about what they like to do in their free time to include sports and other popular activities. They will finish off the year with Spanish vocabulary on schools and school subjects.
