Whether treading the boards in a dramatic production, bringing the house down in a rock concert or pirouetting around the stage in a dance show, our children grow in confidence and self-esteem through our extensive performing arts programme.
Dance
Dance helps our children to develop spatial awareness, fluidity of movement, coordination, imagination and musicality. In Forms 1, 2 and 3 everyone takes part, leading to informal performances and a biannual dance show. For those with greater ability and interest, there are specialist classes in ballet, tap, modern, jazz and street dance in partnership with the KV Academy of Dance.
- 40 visiting music teachers

Music
Music is central to life at Cranleigh Prep. In addition to regular classroom music lessons, all pupils have the opportunity to play an instrument and take part in our extensive range of ensembles. Uniquely, our music department is run in collaboration with the senior school so we can cater to pupils at all levels of ability. Whether singing in a choir, mastering the saxophone or taking the first musical steps on the cello, our outstanding music department is a hive of activity and will warmly welcome pupils of all ages.

Drama
All children ‘tread the boards’ at least once a year in a production. Drama is a key part of our weekly timetable and we have a number of external drama tutors who can help children through LAMDA exams. Recent productions have included Matilda and Seussical. We know that some children enjoy the spotlight more than others so our productions are inclusive; designed to allow every child to grow in confidence and self-esteem. More serious actors can audition for parts in a Shakespeare play in Year 8, which is usually performed at Cranleigh Arts Centre.
